Hello my friends,

Last month my friend Kirsty at Pixie Dust Paperie sent me a really cool album kit.  It was all of the paper, embellishments, everything I needed to make an album and I signed on to a website and there were the instructions each day to make each page.  The name of the album was "Cherish You" and this was going to be my very first attempt at making a chipboard album.  She then sent us our Pixie Design Team challenge...make something for Mother's Day.  This was a very hard assignment for me.

As some of you know, my dad passed away in February.  Even though he was 91 years old and even though I had thought I was prepared for his passing, I have taken it very hard.  It has brought up all sorts of issues of my mom's passing when I was only 16 years old.  For the past several months I have been having panic attacks, I can't sleep and I don't eat.  When my mom died, I felt that she had been "taken" from me.  It felt as if someone had come into my house and taken her away and with her went all of my dreams and hopes for the future.  For years and years I dreamed that I found her again.  For a very long time, I kept waiting for her to come back.

So here is how this has all come together.  I was talking to my wonderful therapist and he said to me.  "Chriss, you are an artist, no one can take your parents from you.  You can make them alive again in your art."
So I have taken my Pixie Dust Paperie Album and I have made this for my mom...I hope you will excuse that it is picture heavy, but I wanted to share it with you. If you click on each picture you can enlarge it to see it better.  This is something I can hold in my hands and say, "once there were two people and they loved me."

"My mom is a never-ending song in my heart of comfort, happiness, and being.  I may sometimes forget the words but I always remember the tune."

The cover of the album.  I made the flowers with Cricut Flower Shoppe.  Kirsty had a tutorial of how to wet them, crinkle & dry.

  1. Chriss, this is so fantastic! Love everything on this wonderful project....and what a great tribute to your mom. She was so beautiful.
I know exactly what you're talking about here too as I lost my mom when I was only 15 and then my dad when he was 62. It makes it so hard at times.
    Hugs to you my friend!

  5. As someone who is fond of photography I like looking at vintage photos. Thanks for sharing. My daughter finished her classes of her sophomore yr in college. In her words she is going "to be chillin with friends" for awhile after classes end" and then will come home. I'll be celebrating Mother's Day with her after Mother's Day.
