INAS #65 + Prize

Good Morning,

Today is the last day of the prize giveaway, so if you haven't entered, you should!  It is also a new challenge over at International Art & Soul.  Challenge # 65 Flowers.  Warning, this is a long post so grab a cup of tea or coffee and join me!

I love dandelions.  I know that a lot of you think that they are pesky weeds.  When I was growing up I used to bring my mother dandelions and she would thank me and put them in a vase.  I was shocked when I grew older to discover that they were weeds!  They are so wonderful.  They show up in February when the whole world is dark and gray, they are a little bit of sunshine reminding you that spring is on the way!  If you are interested in reading about all of the good things that dandelions do, read this article. https://www.gardenbetty.com/defending-the-dandelion-its-not-just-another-weed/.

So even though Challenge #65 is for flowers, I chose my favorite weed.

I had a really hard time photographing this card! But here it is.  I have become a Patreon of Mo's Digital Pencil and this image and sentiment were a July Freebie only available to Patreon's.

Here is a close up of the image and sentiment.

Here is the inside of the card with a sentiment from an old stamp set.

  2. Loved reading about dandelion and your Mum. Such amazing memories! :) I love dandelion too, they fascinated me in my young age. Love that the seeds have a parachute that inspired Leonardo da Vinci :D and the real fresh flower has a fabulous sunny colour. Here in Italy in ancient times (when there is the last war), people (as my grandmother) ate the dandelion leaves!
Love so much your card, the image is very cute, as well the papers and the design! Beautiful colouring!

  4. A weed is just a flower growing in the wrong place Chriss. My mum did the same when we were kids and picked handfuls of dandelions for her. And wasn't it great "telling the time" by the dandelion clock once it had gone to seed? This is a lovely card with a sweet image and it has brought back lovely childhood memories. Christine xx

  8. I think most kids didn't realize that dandelion flowers are considered weeds, because they were always just the right size for little children's hands to form into a mini-bouquet! Of course, there are those fluffy dandelion seeds to blow in the wind later in the season too...which made it a bonus! Love this sweet card with the great sentiment!

  9. Hi Chriss, I love your card and I adore this image from Mo wonderful colours and embellishments. But the best of all I love Dandeions as well as Daisy's I too picked them for my mum guess it was a little girl thing. I have sons and when they were little they would pick an assortment of weeds for me as well. My mother always said that Dandelions and Daisy's were so clever with their tiny little leaves so perfectly formed and that amazing center of the daisy. I would sit on our front lawn and make daisy and dandelion chains.
Great card and thanks so much for sharing your talent with us over at Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2 and good luck.

  15. I read once that weeds are only flowers growing where you don't want them to. That is such a fun sentiment to go with your darling little girl and her bouquet of dandelions, Chriss. Thanks for sharing your card with us at The Flower Challenge.
