Happy 4th of July!

Good Morning,

Happy 4th of July to my American friends!  To the rest of my friends around the world, good morning!

July 4th has always been a struggle for me.  When I was younger I loved it because my maiden name is America and I would dress up and march in the Breezy Point Beach Parade.  But then my mom died when I was 16 on July 5th and everything changed.  I keep telling myself that it has been over 40 years since she died and I need to get over it but the 4th always brings a little sadness to my heart.  We try to keep things "low key" on the 4th.

Anyway, here is a card that I made.

The image is from Mo's Digital Pencil it is called Waiting For The Parade it is one of his retiring images so if you want it, get it fast!

Here is a close up of the image.

The gold sentiment isn't showing up very well, it says "Happy 4th of July".  I punched it out with a Creative Memories punch.  As you can see, I used 3 dies - Stitched rectangles and Spellbinders Card Maker dies.  I embossed the white paper with a Cut n' Boss embossing folder, I used washi tape behind the image.  The flowers and stars are from my stash.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

  3. So beautiful Chriss! I totally understand why this holiday would be hard on you. For me... My husband had a stroke on July 5th, 14 yrs. ago. It's a hard holiday for me too. He is alive, but has endured a lot of health issues and setbacks. Sending big hugs your way.

"How wonderful it would be if we could help our children and grandchildren to learn thanksgiving at an early age.
Thanksgiving opens the doors. It changes a child's personality. A child is resentful, negative—or thankful.
Thankful children want to give, they radiate happiness, they draw people."
