Oh No! Another Long Blog Post!

Good Morning,

Today I would like to show you some pages from my SMASH book.  I have to explain them to you and of course, it will be a long story.  So, grab your cup of coffee or tea, and some tissues and settle in.

The page says "What happened to you, my sweet boy, that makes you so afraid? Is there a dragon in your nightmares?  Look closer, see how small he really is?

Here is a close up of the Digital Stamp

It is a knight trying to push his horse down the road while a teeny tiny dragon stands in their path. This digital stamp was drawn by Guy Gondron at Copic Markers Scrapbooking
he is just an incredible artist.  I love his work.

Ok, ready for the long story?  I made this page for my dog Louie.  Most of you know Louie by now.  This blog Scrappin' With Chriss and Lou is named for me and my side kick and companion Louie.

Most of you know that Louie is a gigantic dog, he weighs 108 pounds, he is a boxer/plott hound mix, but what you probably don't know is that he is afraid.  He is afraid of so many things!  We rescued him from a kill shelter when he was 4 months old.  He had been found with his mother and two brothers living under a broken down porch in Tennessee.  I don't know what happened to him in those 4 months but I have spent 7 years trying to comfort him and teach him that I am here always and will protect him from all of the bad things in the world.  He is the best behaved, sweetest, gentlest soul I have ever known, but the things that scare him and we have had to overcome together boggles the mind!  I know just how that knight in that drawing feels!  When Louie first came to live with us, he was terrified of hats.  So we wore hats all around the house until he got over that.  He was afraid of anything on wheels.  He has gotten much better but skateboards and big wheels still send a shiver down his back.  I won't even mention the vacuum cleaner.  Not when it's turned on, just when it is sitting there, looking at him.  But here is poor Louie's biggest secret...he is afraid of cats!  Terrified of cats!  He spends his days guarding the house to make sure no cats get in!   So, one year ago, Maryland had an earthquake.  It was so strange, I was standing in my scrapbook room when it happened and Louie was outside.  Apparently, Louie could feel all of the aftershocks that we couldn't feel and he was FREAKED out!  He had to go on doggie Valium.  Louie never ever got up on any of my furniture.  He never even went into my bedroom, these weren't my rules, these were rules he had given himself.  After the earthquake, we started letting him sleep in our bed.  Guess what?  I now have a 200 pound husband and a 108 pound dog sleeping with me every night!  Guess what else?  This dog dreams!  He dreams a lot.  His legs move, he whimpers and makes little barky noises....so I made this page in my SMASH book to remind me always of these days.  The End.

Have a great day!  Thanks for stopping by!

Hugs,

  1. Oh poor little guy. What a shame that his life was so terrible before his found his family. I'm amazed at how people treat animals. The abuse that animals have to endure is heart breaking. Thanks GOD he found you and you made him a part of a loving home. He is one lucky little guy.
