Puppy Paws

Hello Friends and Welcome Visitors,

As a lot of you who visit my blog regularly know, we lost our sweet dog Louie the day after Valentine's day this year.  Soon after, a rescue group got in touch with us and asked us to take on this  ball of energy that we call Duncan.

I sat down the other day and looked at Louie's baby book (yes, I keep a baby book for my puppies, of course I do).  Two things stood out to me.  The first was that I had taken pictures of Louie's paws and they were there for me to look at again.  The second thing I noticed was that I had "tucked away" little notes in that album.  Just things that I could tell no one else but my big sweet dog Louie.  The album did not make me cry.  It filled me with JOY that I had this dog, that we had all of these adventures together and I had given him such a good life.

So when Let's Scrap Sketches came out with this new sketch.  I knew it needed to go into Duncan's Baby Book.

It has a little fold over flap for messages.

Here is my take on the sketch.

I embossed it with my Darcie Puppy Paws folder.

For the flap side, I put together some ephemera.  I am new at doing this (I know I am so behind everyone else) It seems counter-intuitive to me to take things and cover them with other things.  I want everything to show and be pretty.  Here is a Youtube video that was helpful to me. YouTube Video.

I also stamped on this layout.

Inside the flap.

Recipe for this layout:
Bazzill Basic Paper
Deja Views - dog days
Ephemera - Doodle Bug Designs and stash
Chalked edges with Quick Quote Powder Puff Paint
Embossing - Darice boarder embossing folder
2 Dog stamps from stash
Tim Holtz Staplers
Dog paw ribbon from stash

I am entering this layout into the following challenges:
